This 100% Pinot Noir, hailing from vineyards at the very top of the hill in Polisot aged in stainless steel before spending roughly 24 months sur latte (in bottle with the crown cap on), represents the vast majority of her production, with roughly 650cs made each year. Her zero dosage house style renders masterfully food friendly red fruited wines of a precision and tension that is not lost on tasters. Over the past few years, she has achieved even better balance between the fruit and acidity of her wines, which Galloni touches upon in his review of both the 2016 iteration below, as well as other wines in the current release range. For fans of Cédric Bouchard’s entry level Val Vilaine wine, I would posit this as an absolute no brainer 6pk/case buy, as the value quotient here is fantastic…..
“The 2016 Extra Brut Resonance, 100% Pinot Noir from a tiny parcel of 40 year-old vines in Polisot, bristles with energy and tension. Orchard fruit, white flowers, sage, chalk and mint all race out of the glass. With a bit of air, the richer side of Pinot starts to emerge as the wine gains breadth and volume. Proprietor Dominique Moreau has captured energy as well as richness, while avoiding the stark austerity that once defined her Champagnes. Bright floral and savory overtones linger effortlessly. Disgorged: November, 2019.” 92 Antonio Galloni for the 2016, NOT THE 2017 OFFERED HERE.
