2022 Jean Pierre Guyon Nuits Saint Georges Pinot Blanc

2022 Jean Pierre Guyon Nuits Saint Georges Pinot Blanc

$79.00

Another unique house specialty, Jean-Pierre planted the infamous Gouges Pinot blanc clone, a wild white mutation of Pinot Noir, some 18 years ago in the cool, sloped lieu dit les Argillats that sits directly in the Combe de Nuits valley. Unless i’ve misunderstood, he and Gouges are the only two who bottle this unique genetic patrimony. The combination of its SE exposure, cool wind from the Combe, and the high amount of active limestone in the soil here makes for a wowie zowie good bottle of singular white Burgundy, as Pinot Blanc’s richness and broad aromatic range proves to be dazzling here, with both limestone intimations aromatically and in the mouth to render it even more complete and dynamic. This is a crowd pleaser and then some, for both geeks and good ol’ fashioned drinkers….

Another unique house specialty, Jean-Pierre planted the infamous Gouges Pinot blanc clone, a wild white mutation of Pinot Noir, some 20 years ago in the cool, sloped lieu dit les Argillats that sits directly in the Combe de Nuits valley. Unless i’ve misunderstood, he and Gouges are the only two who bottle this unique genetic patrimony. I found this to be wonderfully complex and chalky, with the kind of fruit/acid balance that is a mouthwatering delight.

“Pinot blanc, filtered but not fined, and ready to bottle. 30% new wood and 13.46% alcohol. This is the first time this wine has hit the yield since he purchased the vineyard in 2006. The palate fills out gorgeously, while there is a fine chiselled fresh finish. Both halves of the equation work. Drink from 2026-2030. Tasted: November 2023.” 89-91 Jasper Morris “Four Star” wine
