Description
This is just the second vintage from this .5 hectare parcel of 20 some year old vines planted just in front of the winery. The sandy soiled finesse is impossible to miss here. Neal flipped for the inaugural 2021 vintage, and Anthony tells me the 2022 may be even better; it will be bottled in July, but he is letting me make reservations now. Get what you can justify (of just about everything from here on out), and thank me later.
“The 2021 Morgon le Clos is the maiden release from vines just in front of the winery on soils of clay with a little sand. It undergoes a 10 day maceration. This is sprightly on the nose with rose-petal infused transparent red fruit. Very elegant. The palate is medium bodied with a life-affirming, mineral driven entry. Vivid and refined with a precise tart finish that is simply one of the best you’ll come across in this vintage.” 94 Neal Martin for the 2021, NOT THE 2022 OFFERED HERE
