Description

This one is a house hallmark cuvée, which can be considered a flagship of sorts.  From some 70 year old vines on the south facing upper slope on the northern side of town, this year’s presents somewhat mute aromatics relative to the wow worthy Mouches, that then in the mouth, present its telltale old vine mineral sense of stuffing.  It has moderate tannin, and very good moderate sappiness.  My overall impression is one of power meets grace, and this should age quite well.
“The 2020 Pommard 1er Cru La Platière is a medium to full-bodied, deep and vibrant wine evocative of orange rind, rose petals, red berries, plums and raw cocoa. Framed by bright acids and fine, powdery tannins, it concludes with a long, saline finish.” 91-93+ William Kelley for the 2020, NOT THE 2021 OFFERED HERE.
