Description

This is a bottling that saw its first vintage in 2016, the first vintage that I tasted at the estate, a great example of the charm and versatility of the feinherb category of off-dry wines.  The ’21 has a pretty serious sense of dry extract/stuffing, and comes across as a fairly dry wine.  For everyday versatility with a dry leaning personality, this is wonderful.
“The Thanisch family’s Badstube plot is in the best possible neighborhood, not far from the famous “Berncasteler Doctor” location, at the height of the vineyard cottage and has a lot to offer. Delicious, how the Riesling smells of ripe white and yellow peaches, of passion fruit and delicately of Maui pineapple. Under these lavish fruit aromas there is also something spicy that makes its way to the nose from time to time, giving the bouquet a seductive twist and depth. Crystal clear and loaded with energy, the wine whirls through the palate at the beginning, until this insane freshness, focuses it, reins it in and ends in the almost endless, wonderfully balanced, mineral finale and you’re not sure if the Wine is now dry or slightly sweet. Simply a force!” 93 Stuart Piggott for the 2020, NOT THE 2021 OFFERED HERE.
