Description
I am psyched to be able to offer even just a smidgen of this iconic limestone driven unicorn wine, the third vintage of a micro cuvée cru from Rockhead land, a single high altitude sweet spot within the original heart of the Saumagen Grand cru…..They aren’t really selling this one for export, but they once again allocated me a single case out of camaraderie. This one will be tweezered out one per person for people who support the rest of the range in significant fashion……as good as it gets……a little star * awarded here.
“Tasted as a sample in April 2020, the 2019 Riesling Trocken Kreid (from the iron-rich Kreidkeller plot of the Kallstadter Saumagen) is very fine and complex on the perfectly ripe and elegant nose. On the palate, this is a round, mouth-filling, silky-textured yet nervous, chalky and highly finessed dry Riesling with great intensity, balance and remarkable distinction. The finish is crystalline, incredibly refined and salty, full of tension and weightlessness. This is a spectacular and promising wine. Made only for the second time after the 2018 firstling.” 95-97 Stephan Reinhardt for the 2019, NOT THE 2021 OFFERED HERE.
