Description
In each and every vintage, this is a pet favorite of mine, from the cooler side valley that leads to Veldenz; this is sort of a monopole site of the Richters. My note: “Gorgeous…..Classic, quartz driven sense of mineral attack in impressive concentration of dry extract, that is positively filigree and feather like. Man oh man, swoon worthy beauty….” I gave this one two little stars **, as to my taste, this is absolutely as good as it gets….get some and thank me later…..(I don’t know why Mosel Fine Wines only scored this as a 92….). Additionally, Dirk told me that roughly 1/3 of the vineyard was torn out after the 2021 vintage, as the ageing root stock needed replacing; so fans of the Elisenberg should know that there will be even less of this wine available moving forward……
“The 2021er Elisenberger Riesling Kabinett, as it is referred to on the consumer label, was made from fruit picked at 74° Oechsle in the area around the sundial and in the upper part of the vineyard and was fermented down to fruity-styled levels of residual sugar (48 g/l). It offers a superbly fresh, minty, and floral nose of orange blossom, jasmine, rose, yellow peach, prune, and William’s pear. The wine proves delicately juicy and gorgeously playful on the light-weighted palate. There is really good to high dry extract adding presence and intensity. The finish is very focused as some zesty and citric acidity joins the party. This is a great Kabinett in the making. 2029-2041” 92 Mosel Fine Wines
