Their estate Fremiets sits high on the hill, just above Henri Boillot on pretty much limestone bedrock. It can have a wonderful combination of intense violot floral intensity/fruit density meets mouthwatering stony underpinnings that leave it rather weightless. The cooler vinatage suited this early ripening site very well, perhaps my favorite vintage of this wine since 2016.

“The perfumed nose offers more floral notes to the ripe yet cool and airy mix of extremely pretty red berry fruit and plum aromas. There is good cut and punch to the detailed, intense and utterly delicious flavors that possess an attractive texture as well as excellent complexity on the balanced and mineral-driven if lightly austere finish. Lovely and a wine that should repay a decade or more of keeping yet be approachable after 5-ish years. (90-93)/2031+” Allen Meadows

“Domaine. Two barrels, one year old, badly hit by the frost as this is an early site. 12 barrels in 2022! 20% whole bunch, which shows in a very elegant way on the nose. Sensual yet precise. This holds up very well even in this placing among the Côte de Nuits 1ers Crus. The fruit is darker than one might expect, and holds on through, past the tannins at the back. Drink from 2026-2031. Tasted: November 2022.” 91-93 Jasper Morris
