This is a new domaine wine for Marchand-Tawse, and while the stuffing here isn’t as jaw droppingly intense as the Puligny and Chassagne, the price makes it a no-brainer for substance allied to value. Think of it like a baby Corton Charlemagne, just around the corner…..
Fall ’16 arrival.
Of all of the estate white wines that they produce, this one is, to me, my hands down favorite, not to mention a ridiculously good value play. I would, in fact, refer to this as their flagship white wine, chock full of the mouthwatering salty mineral intensity that is a hallmark of the site (fans of Savigny’s Simon Bize may know this one well), well enrobed in generous orchard fruit, with a certain shimmering purity that I associate as a hallmark of their terrific biodynamic farming practices. When tasting this one together, it is regularly thunderclap obvious: this is great white Burgundy….the 2021 is terrific, sort of hyper concetrated in intensity but not weight due to the minuscule yields of 2021; just 4 barrels were made this year due to frost. A little * awarded here. Get this….
