After several years of this wine NOT being in the mix, the 2021 crop proved generous enough to make this single lieu dit Gevrey villages. I found it to be terrifically finessed and fine out of barrel; it seems that both Allen and Jasper appreciated it as well……a surprisingly solid amount available, I think because it is not a regular entrant and most importers don’t want to work with something in only one year; this is not a burdensome limitation to me…. ;0 A little * awarded here.
“An expressive nose features notes of anise and earth-inflected red and dark currant scents. There is again very good volume and generosity to the seductively textured medium-bodied flavors that exhibit fine length on the rustic but solidly persistent finale. This well-made effort is very Gevrey in basic character. (89-91)/2029+” Allen Meadows ——–> “particularly outstanding for their respective appellations and especially merit your attention”
“Maison. Two barrels, both one year old, destemmed. A rich purple, this wine was late to complete its malolactic, so there is still plenty of gas. These incidentals apart, the wine is pure and clear with plenty of energy and good acidity. Promising. Drink from 2025-2030. Tasted: November 2022.” 90-92 Jasper Morris “Four Star” wine
