Always a wine of fine, lacy persistence, this 2021 is terrific and classically proportioned Serpentières, in a dark red fruited register. This has notably more depth than the Rouvrettes, more layered complexity. The textbook driving line of fine minerality gives this a long, fine, weightless sensibility that is both mouthwatering and ever rising in its floral sustain. Delicious. A little * awarded here.
“(a mix of chalk and deep clay and not much rock while the exposure is almost due south). A discreet application of wood sets off the ripe and bright aromas of purple fruit, newly turned earth and a violet top note. I very much like the sense of underlying tension to the attractively precise middle weight flavors that are notably finer and particularly so on the palate coating finale. This mildly austere and firm effort will need at least a few years first. 91 2027+” Allen Meadows ————> “particularly outstanding for their respective appellations and especially merit your attention” for the 2020, NOT THE 2021 OFFERED HERE
