2021 Georges Glantenay Chambolle Musigny 1er Feusselottes

nother small-is-beautiful, reference point worthy example is their .09 hectare parcel of 75+ year old Chambolle Musigny les Feusselottes. This was sold off prior to its first vintage in-house bottling in 2017, and has quickly become a reference point worthy example. Whilst not priced shyly, it promises to deliver the Chambollean goodness and then some. A little * awarded here….

“(from Feusselottes proper). A wonderfully elegant and slightly riper nose remains cool and pure with its markedly floral aromas of essence of red pinot, spice and kirsch. The strikingly fine, even lacy and delicate, middleweight flavors possess solid mid-palate volume while exhibiting even better length on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finale where a touch of wood slowly emerges. Textbook Feusselottes. (90-93)/2031+” Allan Meadows ———-> “particularly outstanding for their respective appellations and especially merit your attention”

“Mid purple. Rather a tough oakiness and a bit raw at first, an effect of the vinification int├ęgrale technique, which makes it harder to tasted in youth. A new 500 litre barrel was used for vinification, then transferred to a new 228 litre barrel, so there are some fairly aggressive tannins in play. The fruit has a slightly boiled sweet character, but the wine has notable weight for the vintage, with a tougher structure. But it should come together, and may deserve a higher rating. Drink from 2027-2033. Tasted: October 2022.” 90-93 Jasper Morris
