Description
Once again, Marc-Olivier’s ’21 Volnay villages is a knockout classic example, in a particularly red frutied vein. In value, substance, and charm, this is a winner winner chicken dinner. Get a 6pk/cs and thank me later…..My note: “Wow. A noticeable step up in intensity, this is quintessential Volnay character in its intense violet perfume and broad shouldered palate presence. It seems that Jasper also shared my reverence for this cuvée’s hyper typicity….Volnay lovers, get after it…!!! A little * awarded here.
“Fresh, light to mid-purple. A very elegant Volnay nose, definitely Volnay! Light red berry fruits. Now picked much later than it used to be, which has worked very well in 2021. The wine is now less hard at the finish and with a pleasing cherry juiciness, and good length. Drink from 2025-2029. Tasted: October 2022” 88-90 Jasper Morris “Four Star” wine
“(from La Gigotte and Les Famines). Once again there is an attractive coolness to the admirably pure red berry, spice and discreet floral scents. The racy, detailed and lightly stony flavors conclude in a compact, moderately firm and youthfully austere finale where a touch of rusticity slowly emerges. (87-90)/2027+” Allen Meadows
