Description
One of the handful of nouveautés from the Coteaux du Lyonnais, this is the third vintage of Guillaume’s small trial with carbonic maceration, the whole berry (not crushed) vinification technique that is so popular in Beaujolais, but which is not at all common in the N Rhône. The wine is then aged for a year in demi muid, and the results so far have been lip smackingly good due to the juicy and appetizing primacy afforded by carbonic maceration. This one sounds like some juicy tasty fun……
“Dark red robe. The nose is cosy, rounded, warm, has an aroma of cassis coulis style fruit, good shine in it, a note of licorice. The palate also pleases on its black fruit, glides along with some elan, the tannins supple and adding a good layer into the close. It’s spherical in shape, indeed like a sputnik, holds appealing plumpness, is high invitation wine, will please, and drink well with lamb. There’s a great level of sunshine here, bang on the spot: it was harvested in early September, bang on the money. From late 2021. 2026-27 July 2021” Four Stars John Livingstone Learmonth for the 2020, NOT THE 2021 OFFERED HERE
