2021 Charles Audoin Marsannay les Favieres

My long time pet favorite, and a candidate for the most finessed “Grand cru” like character of the range, this is back after not being bottled separately in 2016……As good as it gets, so don’t miss it……a little * awarded here.
“The 2018 Marsannay Les Favières opens in the glass with aromas of cherries, raspberries and orange rind that mingle with sweet soil tones and a deft touch of toasty new oak. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with rich structuring tannins, lively acids and a long, precise finish. As usual, this is among the most promising prospects for the long haul in the Audoin cellar.” 91-93 William Kelley

“There is better freshness still to the pretty and attractively layered aromas of red cherry, raspberry and evident floral elements. The punchy and appealingly textured flavors exude evident salinity on the impressively complex and lingering finish where the same cherry lozenge character is present. (90-92)/2028+” Allan Meadows ————> thingy, meaning, “particularly outstanding for their respective appellations and especially merit your attention”.

“Moderate reduction largely dominates all but a hint of earth that is again reflected on the super-intense, delineated and tautly muscular medium weight flavors that are also firmly austere, compact and bitter pit fruit-inflected finale that delivers fine length. Like several wines in the range, this will need to develop better depth with time in bottle. (88-91)/2029+” Allen Meadows
