10 g/L acidity, 94 g/L RS – I have to say that this wine (along with some of the Eisweins) have me the most pumped.  This is the bottling that is Stefan’s personal favorite, and one that consistently gets top marks in the press.  Stefan characterizes the 2021s in general as being of filigree finesse and dancing levity.  He also characterizes the Sonnenuhr as being particularly concentrated in both fruit and dry extract, which is why it is his favorite.  Let me say that when Mosel Fine Wines gives 94 point scores to Spätlese wines, they are absolute knockouts, quintessential and classic.  I am certain that this will be a stunning bottle, a 6pk/case buy no brainer for Mosel fans and anyone who wishes to understand what fantastic Mosel Spätlese is all about.  Don’t say I didn’t tell ‘ya so!
“The 2021er Neumagener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese *** Non Plus Ultra was made from fruit picked at 93° Oechsle and was fermented down to fully sweet levels of residual sugar (94 g/l). It offers a hugely subtle nose of pear, green apple, ginger, starfruit, and superbly fine elements of almond cream. The wine develops the presence and finesse of a high-end Auslese on the palate with, in addition, a superb kick of zest that gives focus to the experience. The finish is airy, intense, and finely chiseled. This is a huge success. 2031-2051” 94 Mosel Fine Wines
