9.6 g/L acidity, 69 g/L RS – I am excited to be able to offer my first Leiwen based wines, the town that neighbors Piesoport to the south, and which I first came to know through Nik Weis of St Urbans Hof.  It was, in fact, his Laurentiuslay bottling that for years was my favorite in his lineup.  He had never exported it before as he produced so little, and I was the first to bring it to America some 20 years ago!!  This sounds like a knockout example to put on showcase for the Laurentiuslay, with the dancing charms of 2021 on full display.  The value quotient is ridiculous……this seems like a 6pk/cs buy no brainer for the budgeteer/value hound.
“The 2021er Leiwener Laurentiuslay Riesling Kabinett, as it is referred on the consumer label, is made from fruit picked at 85° Oechsle and was
fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (63 g/l). It offers a quite appealing nose made of whipped cream, citrusy elements, white flowers, and smoke. The wine starts off on the slightly creamy side on the palate but a touch of acidity is quick to kick in and gives cut and zest to the finish. The aftertaste is slightly intense by Kabinett standards but hugely mouthwatering and zingy. This is a beautiful fruity-styled wine! 2026-2036″ 92 Mosel Fine Wines
