Description
The first year that I am able to offer this gem, a wee parcel of .3 hectares of 65 year old vines in the prime mid/upper slope of the Clos. An interesting side note, the name of the parcel comes from the many beehives that used to border the parcel, as bees were referred to as “mouches de miel” (honey flies) back in the day. This lives up to the reputation of the Clos des Mouches presenting some of the most finessed and classy wines on the entire Beaune hillside, with super super fine, captivating violet aromatics, with a wonderfully sappy, silky, and precise presence in the mouth, beautifully harmonized between fruit, floral, and mineral aspects. It finishes on ever rising florals, with very good length. This is classy as F!! Get some…!! A little * awarded here.
“The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Mouches is layered and velvety, exhibiting aromas of sweet red berries, rose petals, orange rind and cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, lively and layered, it concludes with a long, perfumed finish.” 91-93 William Kelley
