Description
This the “reserve” wine counterpoint to the “regular” Hengelberg, no wilting flower in its own right. Judging from Piggott’s, ahem, enthusiasms, this sounds like it possesses a remarkable sense of power without weight, of flavor intensity and precision. Sounds none too shabby to me……fwiw, this is his highest priced bottling, and from a site that no one really knows…..under the radar…..again, hard to think that one can go wrong with checking in here…..“Incredibly deep and complex nose with aromas ranging from the darkest spices through to the brightest citrus and the headiest floral notes. Then comes the mindbending concentration and wet-stone minerality on the super-focused, medium bodied palate. Primal intensity and a miraculous impression of lightness at the almost endless finish! Enormous aging potential! Drink or hold.” 98 Stuart Piggott
