This wine has always been a value hound’s favorite, as it is essentially a declassified Barbaresco from the Basarin parcel. For an everyday Nebbiolo wine chock full of the delicate house touch, of purity, substance, and this kind of overachieving value, this has very few peers in all of Piemonte. I get an outpouring of freakout every year once people taste this wine, only to find my stocks sold out……..so plan well for your needs!! I expect very good things from 2020 based on Andrea’s superlative assessment of the vintage and early input on this one in particular, fwiw…..
“Here’s a terrific wine to serve at informal dinners, like a meal served outdoors under patio lights on a warm summer night. The Sottimano 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo delivers chiseled and focused aromas with a leading mineral component of crushed limestone or calcium, backed by delicate forest berry, tar and fresh licorice root. Don’t underestimate the wine’s simplicity. It comes off as slender and streamlined, but those fluid aromas grow and shift with time in the glass.” 92 Monica Larner for the 2019, NOT THE 2020 OFFERED HERE
