“Molitor’s darker, golden-yellow colored 2020 Riesling Erdener Treppchen Auslese ** (Golden Capsule) fermented very slowly in oak and was bottled only in June of the following year. The nose is intense but somewhat untamed in its concentration and somewhat musty expression that exhibits fermentative notes of apricot chutney and stewed pears. Generous and sweet on the palate, this is a rich and concentrated, savory and pretty exotic Auslese with a rather mediative and pretty sweet (Beerenauslese) character with piquant acidity. It’s still not in the best shape, and as far as I know, Markus Molitor won’t release this wine until it’s rested a bit, so maybe next year. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 145 22 in July 2022.” 95+ Stephan Reinhardt
