Description

Here, we are stepping up into another realm, that of the Jungheld portion of the Apotheke vineyard, which is a craggy, ridiculously steep section of very old vine terraces that make you incredulously say, “Really? People farm that?”.  ;0  He makes an off-dry example very year from these terraces that he calls the Fels-Terrassen (slate terraces).  I like the Mosel Fine Wines line here: “will then prove a superb ambassador of this style.”  Once people taste for themselves how damn delicious and versatile feinherb wines are, it is impossible not to reach for them more often…..This is basically an off-dry GG wine……
“The 2020er Trittenheimer Apotheke Fels-Terrassen, as it is referred to on the central part of the label, is an off-dry wine (with 21 g/l of residual sugar) from the Jungheld part of the vineyard. It offers a subtly ripe nose made of herbal elements, quince, pear, melon, a hint of lemon, and loads of earthy spices, all wrapped into residual scents from its spontaneous fermentation. The wine is on the smooth side on the palate and leaves an earthy and spicy but beautifully precise feel in the long finish. Pear and quince round off the impression of ripe precision in the lingering after-taste. This off-dry wine will need some time to shed its primary ripe juiciness but will then prove a superb ambassador of this style. 2028-2040” 92 Mosel Fine Wines
