Description

Gilles didn’t show me his single parcel Meix-Chavaux from some 90+ year old vines, as he says that he just makes too little of it to encourage more fans…..based on the quality of the whites I did try and the outstanding quality of the white vintage in general, this is gonna be great….
“(from 90+ year old vines). Hints of mineral reduction and petrol add breadth to the more floral aromas of citrus confit and ripe white orchard fruit. The delicious, seductive and caressing middle weight flavors also possess a beguiling texture on the balanced and ever-so-slightly more complex finale. Worth considering. (89-92)/2024+” Allen Meadows  ———-> “particularly outstanding for their respective appellations and especially merit your attention” for the 2019, NOT THE 2020 OFFERED HERE.
“I had the pleasure to taste a few examples of Meix Chavaux on this trip and my favorite was to be found in the Lafouge cellars. The stunning nose offers up a complex blend of lime zest, passion fruit, pear, limestone minerality, a touch of iodine, almond, vanillin oak and a floral topnote redolent of lime blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and beautifully balanced, with a superb core of fruit, fine transparency and a long, succulent and vibrant finish. This is made from vines that are now ninety years-old and this really shows in this stunning 2017. 2018-2040+. 93.” John Gilman for the 2017, NOT THE 2019 OFFERED HERE
