Description
This is the second time that i’ve offered this unique animal, from a little known site that Goisot considers to be an indubitably 1er cru worthy, terroir expressive cru called la Ronce (the Blackberry). From the portion of the hillside that falls on the Saint Bris side of the appellation (vs the part planted to Pinot Noir that is in the Côtes d’Auxerre portion), this vineyard was coplanted with both Sauvignon blanc and Sauvignon Gris, the two providing very interesting aromatic and flavor synergy. He thinks that in time, people will come to recognize just how much of terroir-first expression this is (rather than varietal driven). Color me curious to check it out, as literally everything here is always bursting with substance…..Allan gave a great note to last’s year’s iteration, and I anticipate equally positive feedback for the 2020…..
“Here too there is plenty of sauvignon blanc character to the ripe aromas of ocean breeze and lemongrass scents. The citrus character of the nose also appears on the sleek, intense and nicely saline infused flavors that deliver very fine length on the balanced and dry finale. This elegant wine is an excellent example of the genre. 91/2025+” 91 Allan Meadows ——–> “particularly outstanding for their respective appellations and especially merit your attention” for the 2019, NOT THE 2020 OFFERED HERE
