Description
In every vintage, the Clusel Côte Rôties are go as-good-as-it-gets-examples that reflect the vintage quite well, always qualitatively beyond reproach. These 2020s will be, quite simply, smokin’ good, with the fluidity and balance that are hallmarks of 2020 Côte Rôtie. The prices took a big jump, incidentally…….and I don’t think that such pricing trends will abate anytime soon. If you walked these vineyeards and got to see how much labor is involved, you would feel the same…….get it while the gettin’ is good….!
“Red-purple colour; the nose has a soft air centred on blackberry lozenges, trim sweetness, fruit that is coulis in style, carries the gentle impact of sun rays, is a rounded bouquet. The palate is cautious, runs with understated, cool red fruit; the tannins are ripe, only a little firm already, so will absorb well – indeed, they are quality, fine powder tannins that add a little stardust. It’s very different from the tighter, coiled 2019, will be a graceful, stylish, rather open Rôtie. From 2025, say. 2046-48 July 2021” Four Stars John Livingstone Learmonth
“Vibrant, mineral-accented blackberry, blueberry and violet aromas pick up a spicy topnote with air. Concentrated red and dark berry, olive and floral pastille flavors display sharp focus and energetic drive thanks to a spine of smoky minerality. Finishes very long and sappy, with persistent blue fruit and floral qualities, subtle tannins and lingering spiciness.” 91-93 Josh Raynolds for the 2019, NOT THE 2020 OFFERED HERE
