Here is Jean-Pierre’s rockhead pet favorite wine, from the upper slope, white stony soils of la Comme. He affectionately refers to it as the “la Romanée des pauvres” (a poor man’s la Romanée). The nose smells intensely chalky/stony, then the attack is all silky and caressing. The finish gives the impression of a slowly dissolving mineral solid, all elegance and creeping palate staining presence. I can see why Jean-Pierre likes this so much, as its elegance and substance are noteworthy…..
“Here the wood influence is more prominent though not invasive on the cool, pure and very pretty aromas of lemon rind, acacia and various white orchard fruit. The rich, succulent and caressing medium-bodied flavors exude a subtle minerality on the clean and bone-dry finale where the only reproach is a touch of warmth. 91/2026+” Allen Meadows ————> thingy, meaning, “particularly outstanding for their respective appellations and especially merit your attention” for the 2019, NOT THE 2020 OFFERED HERE
