This bottling is one that I have not been able offer in the past, and am very very glad to include it here. This is from a parcel that was the very first that she farmed, a gift by her father. Stephan’s note sounds delicious to me, if the score lower than his words would suggest…….
“Les Esserts is where it all began for Marie-Thérèse. This is the original vineyard gifted by her father, which explains her attachment to this plot. Primarily planted with Pinot Noir, it is the source of the 2020 Grain Pinot Les Esserts, a wine I have never tasted before. The nose is beautifully clear, pure, refined and elegant, with perfectly ripe cherry aromas and a delicate spiciness from the terroir. On the palate, this is a silky-textured, refined and refreshing Pinot with sublime tannins, a shine and even a juicy finish that reveals stimulating bitters and keeps the purity and finesse of this beautiful and highly digestible, medium to full-bodied Pinot Noir. 13.7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in Zurich in February 2022.” 91+ Stephan Reinhardt
