Luisja’s barrel aged 2019 “reserve” wine promises to be a delight, as the wood is now some four years old, and imparts moreso textural roundness/suavity than any wood driven flavors. The vintage was a minuscule crop (a theme unfortunately repeated…), which allowed for a wine of particularly concentrated intensity. Fans of outstanding barrel aged Sauvignon blanc (Boulay’s single parcel wines) and barrel aged Chablis will find a ton to admire here. On the world stage, once again, the value quotient is silly good…..
