Description
This is a very exciting first time entrant in the range, after the parcel was purchased in December 2018. Sitting just above the 1er cru Pezerolles, with greater cooling influence from the Combe as well as less southern exposure, William considers this the most mineral and tension filled wine in the range. From very old vines pushing up on 80 years that produce a lot of tiny berried millerandage and very low 21hl/ha yields, this inaugural vintage is a smashing success, earning the highest score of any 2019 Pommard/Volnay wine reviewed in Bourgogne Aujourd’Hui, and that is in a vintage that is very very strong for Pommard….due to the ideal ripeness as well as the tiny berries, they elected to include 15-20% whole clusters. This sounds like a fantastic addition to the range…… 75cs made, 13.3% alc.
“”Issued from a .33 ares parcel of 76 year old vines, this majestic cuvĂ©e presents a violet color, deep and noble aromas of black fruits and flowers. In the mouth, it is like a concentrate of Pinot Noir, with its fleshy fruit of balance and finesse.” 18.5/20 Bourgogne Aujourd’Hui, the highest rated Pommard of the vintage/issue….
