2019 Francois Chidaine Montlouis Clos du Breuil

2019 Francois Chidaine Montlouis Clos du Breuil

$33.00

From atop the Montlouis plateau in clay soils with large pieces of silex, aka flint. The subsoil is all Tuffeaux, a tender limestone chalk found in many of the top sites of the region. The interplay of soil types is what makes this such a complex, bracing, versatile wine. I’ve often been shut out of the Clos du Breuil, so this year, i’m not missing out. Get it while the gettin’ is good! From 30-90 year old vines, a nice 3 hectare parcel. This wine is consistently one of the greatest dry Chenin values to be found anywhere…….
“Chidaine’s 2018 Montlouis Clos du Breuil is marked by a real feeling of old-vine density. Apricot, peach, tangerine oil and spice all build in a viscous, oily Chenin that is all about texture. Powerful and classy, the Clos du Breuil is fabulous. Time in the glass just brings out the wine’s depth and intensity, with a hint of tropical exoticism that lingers on the finish.” 95 Antonio Galloni for the 2018, NOT THE 2019 OFFERED HERE
