The Viallière is one off the two “Grand cru” sites farmed by the Clusels, although the Viallière is sort of underappreciated/under hyped. For the single parcel cru identity and “as good as it gets” hunter, this is your stop. This is always a wine whose character is all about floral intensity……Get what you can……a little * awarded here.
“Highly perfumed, mineral-drenched dark berry, violet, smoky mineral and olive paste scents show excellent clarity and a hint of smokiness. Sweet, palate-staining blackberry and floral pastille flavors deepen with air and show a candied licorice note on the back half. Rich but lively as well, closing with firm cut on a persistent, sharply focused finish, which features fine-grained tannins and suave floral and exotic spice notes.” 95-97 Josh Raynolds
