One of the few bottlings made from this small 1er cru that is an extension of les Charmes, and THE reference point example, as far as I’m aware. 200 cases made from .40 hectares. Of fairly shallow clay/silt soil, just 50-60 cm above the mother rock, just enough to give it some richness on top of all that limestone punch. This one got the ol’ WOW and stars on both occasions being tasted. Deliciously sappy and bright, with a spiciness, airyness, and prettiness that is swoon worthy. Get some.
“(from a .39 ha parcel next to Charmes). Once again the wood treatment is subtle but not invisible though it easily allows the earthier aromas of cool red currant, violet and plum to be appreciated. There is more volume though less finesse to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess a taut muscularity on the robust finale that is firmer still. Patience definitely advised.
