Description
For the first time, to commemorate the birth of his first and only child/son Camille, he bottled a separate cuvée of his oldest vines in the Corton Rognet Grand cru. He has not sold a bottle to anyone in the world yet, and doesn’t really plan to, moreso saving the wine for special occasions and family friends. When I asked him if I can offer it, he just smiled and said, “OK, pour toi, pourquoi pas?”. What a treat, and a significant sign of respect and mutual appreciation……I think that the special opportunity here is self-evident…..get some, and thank me later….
“The 2018 Corton Le Rognet Cuvée Camille Grand Cru, named after Mallard’s son born that year, contains 72% whole cluster. It has a vivacious, well-defined bouquet of blackberry, raspberry preserve and light kirsch aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. A little tight on the finish but there is impressive precision and mineralité here. Excellent.” 92-94 Neil Martin
