Description
As it typically is, my favorite of the trio of Corton wines, as it just has an extra dimension of complexity, a bit more savoriness and kiss of wild. This wine presents even more amplitude than the Rognet, with its fruit sappiness like some kind of magical essence of red cherry nectar. Absolutely undeniable class in a glass, a wine to load up on and thank me later, as Grand crus of this qualitative caliber at anything resembling this price are quickly becoming the things of fairy tale lore. A little * awarded here, a wine that I requested mags of on the spot…..Have I made myself clear…?? (my note for the 2016)
“The 2018 Corton Les Renardes Grand Cru has a pretty, pure bouquet of well-defined raspberry, red currant and bergamot scents that intensify in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, and slightly creamier in texture than the Les Maréchaudes, with well integrated new oak (75%) on the finish. Excellent.” 92-94 Neil Martin
“(from a .75 ha parcel). Discreet though not invisible wood frames intensely floral-inflected aromas of super-fresh essence of various red berries, spice and a hint of the sauvage. The relatively supple flavors retain very good precision while delivering excellent depth and persistence on the firm but not really austere finale. (91-94)/2030+” Allen Meadows
