Description
“Like the Aÿ bottling from Benoît Marguet, the 2017 Bouzy is just a half step behind his Ambonnay cuvée and is a very, very impressive bottle of young Champagne. These are all Marguet family vineyards as well, just like the Ambonnay, though this wine is composed entirely from pinot noir in the 2017 vintage. There were about one hundred and seventy-five cases produced, so this will be an easier wine to find in the market than the far more limited Aÿ. The wine offers up an outstanding aromatic constellation of peach, a touch of passion fruit, fresh almond, dried flowers, a complex base of soil tones, gentle oaky notes and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full-bodied, with great complexity and soil signature, refined mousse, bright acids and a long, focused and beautifully balanced finish. This wine is not quite as seamless as the Ambonnay, but perhaps that is just the different personalities of the two villages? Fine, fine juice. 2025-2055. 94.” John Gilman for the 2017, NOT THE 2018 OFFERED HERE
