This is the fourth vintage from an ideally placed, west facing moderately steeply sloped parcel on Campanian era chalk just 20cm below the surface, from massale selection Chardonnay vines; until the 2014 vintage, these vines went into the entry level Blanc de blancs Brut Nature, but its character routinely proved itself so exceptional that Aurélien finally made it into its own small cuvée.  Thank goodness that he did, because this is a chalky, saline power meets finesse knockout that is pure class in a glass!…..For the 2014 Antonio rated this the highest among the range, alongside Cédric Bouchard’s ’14s and Pascal Agrapart’s Avizoise ’12 as one of the highest rated 5 wines of his entire Champagne report….We tasted both the 2014 and the 2015 side by side, and let me tell you…..For the 2015, it comes across as even finer and lacier, an even more graceful expression next to the 2014s somewhat “blockier” mineral attack.  Aurélien completely agrees that the ’15 is even finer than the ’14, which is really saying something.  Folks, this one is just incredibly good, once again a 6pk/case buy must for serious Champagne aficionados.   A big time little * awarded here.  Mark my words, this one will get a crazy high score once again…..AND IT DID, FROM ALL OF THE CRITICS…..CALLED IT.   ;0  GET WHAT YOU CAN JUSTIFY OF THIS…..
“The 2018 Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs les Grandes Crayères 1er cru is a savory, intensely mineral and driven wine.  Chalk, mint, white flowers and dried herbs all grace this linear, taut Champagne.  The Crayères is understated and classy from start to finish.  It’s classic Lahèrte all the way.  Dosage is 2-4 grams per liter.  Disgorged November 2021.” 93 Galloni
