Description
“The red from La Orotava, the 2017 Migan, is also in its second vintage, pure Listán Negro from the village of La Perdoma, whose ancient name was Migan. They added one more plot in 2017, Tío Luis, at 550 meters in altitude on sandy soils without any clay, a type of soil that provides great finesse (there is also one a separate bottling of the plot available through the Viticole wine club in the US). I think the blend has gained in perfume, it felt very expressive and open, perhaps less austere than the 2016 but without being exuberant, as the palate is sharp, serious and dry. Two of the components of the blend, La Habanera and Tío Luis (but not San Antonio, are also bottled separately. Or in other words, this is the blend of three wines (approximately one-third of each) that provide different things, and it’s probably the most complete. Often a blend adds up to more than the sum of the different parts. Balance, my friends… 7,500 bottles were filled in December 2018.” 95 Luis Gutierrez for the 2017, NOT THE 2018 OFFERED HERE
