Description
From a site that sits just below the legendary la Brune lieu dit (where Benetière’s Dolium and the Guigal la Turque vineyard are located), this is a terraced site with much more iron rich decomposed micaschist, as well as granit. It is 100% destemmed, and aged entirely in new oak. In spite of the oak regimen, the wine has the stuffing to handle it. Again, this is reference point worthy, another exceptional example of the many facets of the Côte Rôtie hillside…….
“dark, thorough robe; the nose clusters around a firm aroma of black cherry fruit, with mineral notes, oak, blood. It is more sparked than soft. The palate carries iron, a good mineral thread, has stylish content either side of its spine. It’s expressive, full, lengthens well, maintains a relative freshness into its rocky finish, which suggest the northern sector [tasted blind]. It will benefit from further raising, and time in bottle; its fruit and content are stylish, with a little discreet softness. From 2023. 2045-47 Nov 2019” 5 Stars JLL
