From a tiny .2 hectare parcel in the prime heart of the Clos des Mouches, on its sloped upper reaches, basically on pure limestone soils. This stuff is undeniably reference point worthy good, presenting self evident Grand cru caliber class and complexity. It has the same rough architecture as the Beaune villages above, but with everything dialed up in intensity and class….It has a sense of focus, at once both richer and with a chiseled intensity that is jaw dropping. Its sense of purity and dynamic, mouthwatering limestone tension are simply class in a glass, as good as it gets in white Burgundy, period!!! It isn’t priced shyly, but merits every bit of such consideration. If top class white Burgundy is something that you prize, I cannot recommend this heartily enough!! A little * awarded here.
