For the first time, there are now two cuvées of Crozes Hermitage blanc, this one comprised of 85% Marsanne/15% Roussanne, aged principally in tank and some in used barrel. As I have alluded to over the past three years, his work with white wine has only gotten better and better, bringing even greater poise and freshness to the wines, both by choosing to block malolactic, as well as pick earlier rather than later…..this should make Rhône enthusiasts smile and then some, its orchard fruits, florals, and soft texture proving to be both appetizing and gourmand.
“Brilliant straw-yellow. Fresh citrus and orchard fruit aromas are complicated by dusty mineral, floral and beeswax nuances. Juicy and well-delineated on the palate, offering nicely concentrated tangerine, pear and honeysuckle flavors and a hint of bitter quinine. Shows very good energy and mineral cut on the finish, which repeats the floral and citrus fruit notes.”91 Josh Raynolds FOR THE 2016, NOT THE 2017 OFFERED HERE.
