55% Nebbiolo, with the balance being Croatina/Vespolina. 13.5% alc – This is the first vintage released from the Pianella vineyard, one whose hard volcanic rock soils have taken longer for the young vines’ roots to penetrate. Thus, even though the vineyard was planted at the same time as the Rubino vineyard, originally with the intention of it being their flagship vineyard, it hasn’t worked out that way for now. Based on Antonio’s glowing review for this first vintage, sounds pretty freakin’ good.
