Wow….this has a remarkably intense and concentrated aromatic range of gorgeous red fruits and spice; I could smell this all day. In the mouth it proves to be a textbook example of power without weight, proving positively filigree, with long sustain of red fruits, florals, and minerality. To my taste, this is class in a glass, and even better than Allan’s tank sample review below would lead one to believe….a little * awarded here.
“Reduction presently overshadows the fruit but there is good freshness and verve to the sleek and intense medium weight flavors that exude evident minerality on the dusty, firm and youthfully austere finish. This balanced effort will require at least a few years of patience. (89-91)/2024+” Allan Meadows
“The 2017 Marsannay Clos du Roy offers up an appealing bouquet of cassis, currant leaf, potpourri and red cherries. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, with a vibrant, elegant profile and beautifully fine structuring tannins.” 90-92 William Kelley
