Description
“From a clos that enjoyed 200 years of distinction as a von Buhl monopole and was registered in 2014 under its cadaster name, this reflects an especially high concentration of stones and active lime in the soil. It evinces even greater richness of ripe fruit than its Reiterpfad in der Hohl counterpart (grown in predominantly sandstone-based soils), beginning with an effusive nose. Peach and Persian melon are laced with bright lemon on a polished, caressingly creamy palate, with nuts and citrus seeds lending stimulating counterpoint and a piquant glow, while salted veal stock lends saliva-inducing savor to a vibrantly sustained finish. The combination of brightness with richness here (tasted from cask just ahead of an August 2017 bottling) is downright uncanny.” 93-94 David Schildknecht
