I am psyched about the next two wines….I got the very last of the exceptionally good 2016 Kirchberg, so get it while the gettin’ is good. As good as it gets!!!
Techincal stats: 13.8% alc, 4.85 g/L RS, 8.05 g/L acidity.
“Pale straw. Very refined, still fairly shut down aromas of licorice and musky nectarine and peach. Then bright and juicy, revealing a multilayered quality to the yellow fruit and mineral aromas. Lovely length and delightful clarity and cut on the savory finish. I am already a huge fan of Kientzler’s Osterberg Riesling, but this wine is a real star this year: in fact, it’s the best Kirchberg from Kientzler I have memory of. Interestingly, I find that Kirchberg de Ribeauvillé is one of the grands crus that performed best in 2016, as just about every grape variety delivered great wines (Kientzler told me he believes that the marly-clay soils and the windy microclimate of the Kirchberg helped it manage water stress in 2016).” 94 Ian D’Agata
