The Chalandins hails from the northern part of the village, pushing up on the Flagey Echezeaux border. It is regularly a warmer microclimate than the southern half of the village with deeper soils as well, thus it produces a more intense, denser, and more powerful style. In ’16, it is a knockout, with a kernel of sappy fruit intensity that is swoonworthy, delivered with a vibratory sense that is at once wonderfully hedonistic and elegant. On this day, among everyone at the table (Fabrice, Christine, Amber, and myself), it was a toss up between this and the Damaudes for best Vosne of the ’16 collection. A little * awarded here. From both Vigot and Mugneret Gibourg owned holdings.
