2015 Rings Kallstadter Spatburgunder

2015 Rings Kallstadter Spatburgunder

I had very high expectations for their 2015 Spätburgunders (Pinot Noirs), but my expectations were blown away…They made two different villages level Spätburgunders this year. The Freinsheimer is principally from the deeper soils of the 1er cru Gottesacker that the brothers planted entirely to French clones when they first got started. 13% alcohol, 40% whole cluster, aged in 30% new wood. My tasting note: “Dark red fruits. Wow. Explosively spicey and airy. Intense spiciness and violet floral intensity allied to the very pure, sweet cherry and currant fruit tone is just incredibly good.” Another little * awarded here. I don’t know what else to say, guys, without beating you to death with superlatives. The stuff is off the charts in substance, value, sexy satisfaction, and class…..
