This hails from the single lieu dit les Beaudiers in Chavot, from 65, 70, and 75 year old vine Pinot Meunier in fine silty soils, with pieces of silex (flint) and chalk intense subsoils. The 2015 presents pale cherry/cranberry toned fruit on both the bright aromatics and palate, with slightly darker color and fruit density than the Rosé de Meunier bottling. It also has a bit more savory depth and structure, and will most likely be favored as a food accompaniment relative the rosé de Meunier’s all purpose ease. Plain delicious, no matter how you slice it. Again, a little * awarded here.

“Laherte’s NV (2015) Extra Brut Rosé de Saignée Les Baudiers VV is 100% Meunier from vines planted in 1953, 1958 and 1965. Creamy and resonant on the palate, with tremendous aromatic depth, the Beaudiers is flat-out gorgeous. Sweet red cherry, mint, kirsch, game and dried herbs infuse the 2015 with myriad layers of complexity that reveal themselves with time in the glass. The 2015 spent two years in barrel prior to bottling, which is long by Champagne standards. More importantly, though, it is a wine of tremendous personality and pure breeding. Dosage: 3 gr/L. Disgorged: May, 2019.” 95 Antonio Galloni
