This is his ungrafted franc de pied version from les Bournais. It took almost 10 years for these ungrafted vines to produce enough fruit to make wine!, but what has emerged since then is the single most profound dry Chenin blanc I have ever tasted. The 2010 version was plain mindblowing, with haunting detail and delicacy. The 2014 isn’t yet “officially” for sale, but because I supported the 2010 so well and have inquired so, shall we say, consistently about the ’14, Francois has given me the green light. If you love Chenin blanc, or grand cru caliber dry white wine of any variety, do yourself a favor and get at least one of these. This may be one of the only times you will ever see this wine offered, so don’t say I didn’t tell ‘ya so!
