This is one of the later released bottlings from Clemens, that has only been released since my first wave in early winter. It is from the handful of rocky outcroppings in the Fahrlay that quite simply need to be seen to be believed (like all of the smallest micro parcellary selections for Clemens….INSANE). I didn’t get to taste this one, but I am 100% certain that it is one not to be missed…….
“From 100+-year-old vines on blue slate, the 2015 Pündericher Marienburg Riesling GG Fahrlay Terrassen offers a clear and slatey bouquet with lemon flavors. This is a ripe, rich, round, beautifully piquant, pure and salty Riesling with a long and pure, very precise, finessed and tension-filled finish. The 2015 was bottled on October 10th, 2016, and will be released in September 2017.” 95 points Stephan Reinhardt
“The 2015er Pündericher Fahrlay Terrassen Trocken GG is made from late-harvested fruit in a prime terraced part of the blue-slate Fahrlay sector. It underwent an extended maturation on its lees and is only commercially released now (fall 2017), i.e. two years after the harvest. This offers a gorgeous nose of candied grapefruit, lemon and aniseed herbs. The wine is superbly elegant and refined on the palate and leaves a stunning feel of herbs and fine spices in the long, refined and delicately silky finish. The elegance and finesse of this wine are simply remarkable. This is without doubt one of the very finest dry Riesling made in the Mosel in 2015. It is that impressive! 2020-2030” 95 points MFW
