From 75 year old vines on blue slate in the Fahrlay portion of the Marienburg, this is a laser beam of flinty cool focus. F’in terrific.
“This offers a beautiful nose of grapefruit puree, candied lemon and bergamot-infused herbs. The wine coats the palate with attractive flavors of herbs and spices and leaves a superb feel of herbs and minerals in the long and hugely impressive finish. There is quite some power here but at no moment does one get a feeling of over-power or heat. This is still reduced but should turn into a great wine full of character at maturity, and there is even some upside potential. 2020-2035” 92+ points MFW
“Brightly juicy, piquantly peel- and pit-tinged lime and white peach are suffused with briny maritime mineral matter – the nose suggests ocean spray – and despite a firm palate feel and stony underpinnings, the overall effect skirts austerity. A gripping finish delivers zesty invigoration, utmost clarity, and abundant sheer refreshment.” 92 David Schildknecht
